DJI Mavic 2 Pro Black Friday
The best overall DJI Drone you can buy in this DJI Drone Black Friday 2021 sale.

Features
- Excellent quality 4K Recording
- Obstacle Avoidance Sensor
- 20MP RAW and JPEG image
- Good Battery Life
- Compact and foldable
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro is the best consumer drone offered by DJI. This is one of the best foldable drones out there with superior image and video quality which also has a great battery life and offers an obstacle avoidance feature.
Design and Controller
The Mavic 2 Pro is a bit larger than its predecessor Mavic Pro. It is also big in size than the newly launched Mavic Air 2 ( Review is below). This measures 3.3 by 3.6 by 8.4 inches folded and 3.3 by 9.5 by 12.7 inches with extended arms. Unfolding the drone is pretty easy. You need to unfold the front arms followed by second arms. This weighs 2 pounds thus you need to register it in FAA before flying. You can find the details registration process and requirements below for the United States.
You get the drone and the controller in the box along with the battery. The controller looks like the same as other DJI controller. You need to mount your phone with the controller using the two holding clips. These clips are big enough to accommodate a big phone or phablet. So you don’t need to worry about the mobile you own. There is a cable included that has Lightning, micro USB, and USB-C ports to use all types of mobile with the controller.

The controller has a display. Though it’s monochrome it shows some very useful metrics. You can see the battery status, telemetry data, and other necessary information on the screen. You get two flight sticks to control the drone. The left stick moves the camera ups and down and using the right one you can adjust the exposure. The additional button helps you to change the flight mode ( will discuss the modes later). Furthermore, another button activates the return-to-home feature which takes back your drone where it started flying. Also, there is a button to freeze the drone in a place. While searching for a DJI drone you can also look for our similar article Binocular Black Friday.
The DJI Mavic 2 has two models – Pro and Zoom. The Mavic Zoom has a 2X optical zoom lens but the Mavic 2 Pro is superior in image and video quality. The Mavic 2 Pro has a 1-inch sensor compared to 1/2.3 inch in Mavic zoom ( The bigger the denominator the small the sensor thus allows less light which results in poor image).
Battery
The DJI Mavic 2 pro has a 3850mAh LiPo 4S intelligent battery. This is the highest capacity battery you will find in a drone. You get a total 31 minutes of fly time out of this. This includes both the take off so expect a fly time around 27 minutes. This is higher than the predecessor Mavic Pro which has 23 minutes of flytime. And in case you are an enthusiast arial photographer you always keep a extra spare of battery.
The intelligent battery system offers some cool feature like auto discharge, temperature detection and many more. Let’s discuss them one by one.
- Auto Discharge: If you left the battery idle for more than 10 days it will automatically discharge to below 60%. This prevents the swelling of the battery.
- Temperature Detection: Battery will only charge in temperature between 5°C and 40° which increases the life span of the battery.
- Short Circuit Detection: If the battery detects a short circuit, it will automatically cut off the power.
- Hibernation Mode: The battery will automatically be switched off in case kept inactive for 20 minutes. This saves power for you. And, if the charge went down to 10% he battery goes into hibernation mode that prevents damage to the battery.
- Overcharge and Overcurrent Protection: For additional safety, the battery will automatically stop charging when it reaches 100% or if excessive current is detected.
Image and Video Quality
Now here comes the part you all are waiting for. Let me tell you the specs first then will discuss them in detail. We will also show you sample images and videos so that you can get an idea about the camera.
The DJI Mavic 2 Pro uses a superior Hasselblad camera with 3-axis stabilization. The Mavic 2 Pro comes with the best sensor you find in a drone camera. This has a 1-inch CMOS sensor inside it. It is a 20MP camera with f/2.8-f/11 aperture. The lens is equivalent to 28mm and has a field of view of about 77°. You get features like a single shot, burst mode, and auto exposure bracketing. It can shoot in both RAW and JPEG.
On the video side, the Mavic 2 Pro is able to shoot in 4K resolution at 30 FPS. Additionally, it can shoot 60 FPS at 2K and a whopping 120FPS at Full HD resolution. Automatically it supports ISO up to 3200. Manually you can increase it up to 12800. It records videos at a bitrate of 100Mbps. It supports Dlog-M (10bit), HDR video (HLG 10bit) color codes.
Enough talking – see a Mavic 2 Pro sample video now.
The DJI Mavic 2 delivers the best image and video that a drone can offer right now. The big 1-inch sensor plays a vital role here. This is even big compared to all the flagship mobiles out there. As a result, it captures more light which results in superior image and video.
The Mavic 2 Pro records videos 4K videos at 100Mbps which you can’t find in other drones apart from Phantom series by DJI. But they are suitable if you are into Hollywood not for personal use like youtube videos or for someone flying it as his hobby. The only drawback the Mavic 2 Pro has is that it doesn’t support a 4K DCI format. But for an individual UHD is enough and the video that comes out of DJI Mavic 2 Pro is excellent.
This Hasselblad camera features different color profiles which you can choose as per your need. The Dlog-M is a flat color profile that gives you power in post-production. You can play with the footage and do color correction through software. But this is for someone who is more in professional videography and editing a Dlog-M video also needs skills. Furthermore, you can use the default filters to make your footage more attractive.
Mind it you can’t shoot 4K videos at 60 FPS. It’s currently limited to 30 as of now. You can shoot at 24 or 25 FPS to get the movie-type cinematic shot. Now you will get 60FPS when you reduce the resolution to 2K. And the super slow-motion video is also supported at 1080P. The aperture varies from f/2.8-f/11. It is recommended not to use an aperture above f/5.6. Alternatively, you can use a density filter if you want.
In case you want a wide view you can use the FOV mode. This mode has a field of view of about 77°. It provides you with cool wide footage using the 28mm lens. But when you choose the high quality you have to compromise with the angle. The focal length of the lens comes down to around 40mm. It is not a huge difference but you can notice.
The Mavic 2 Pro also can capture stunning images. Again the big 1-inch sensor plays its role. It delivers better snaps even from your smartphone. This can shoots both JPEG and DNG Raw. If you are a professional photographer or using a camera for a long you know the importance of RAW files. The low light shots appear great due to the big sensor. Although it supports ISO up to 12800 recommended is 3200 for less noise.
How does it avoid an obstacle?
Can you imagine you crash your $1700 drone while flying and lost it? This is one of the terrible things that can happen to your life. Many people had this nightmare earlier so DJI introduces intelligent obstacle avoidance features. This is not a new one that they introduced with Mavic 2 but they refined this a lot. While searching for a DJI drone you can also look for our similar article Telescope Black Friday as during this time you will get a huge discount on each and every single product. The Mavic 2 uses sensors to detect an object or obstacle on this path and thus save you from a crash. When it senses an obstacle it gives you a signal but will not move in that direction although you give a signal through the controller.
Direction | Precision Measurement | Detectable Range | Field of View |
---|---|---|---|
Sides | 0.5 – 10 m | NA | Horizontal: 80°, Vertical: 65° |
Forward | 0.5 – 20 m | 20 – 40 m | Horizontal: 40°, Vertical: 70° |
Backward | 0.5 – 16 m | 16 – 32 m | Horizontal: 60°, Vertical: 77° |

Downward | 0.5 – 11 m | 11 – 22 m | NA |
The new DJI Mavic 2 Pro supports a micro SD card up to 128GB. This is enough for all your recordings. But in case you are worried you can carry an extra set of SD cards. Overall the Mavic 2 Pro is the best folding and compatible drone you can buy in this DJI Drone Black Friday sale. If you are not going to use your footage in movies then the 4K Ultra HD videos will be more than enough for your Youtube videos and other projects. You will get the greatest video quality from a small drone with a superior image. The battery life is also good and offers you an obstacle avoidance feature. What else do you need?
DJI Mavic Air 2 Black Friday
The Mavic Air 2 is the mid-premium offering from DJI in the compact, foldable section. The Mavic Air 2 is capable to capture 4K HDR video along with excellent photos. This is a perfect option for you in this DJI Drone Black Friday sale if your budget is under $1000.

Features
- Better battery than Mavic 2 Pro
- Excellent Image and Video qiality
- Obstacle Avoidance feature
- JPEG and RAW image format
- Airsense Feature
Comparing the Mavic Air 2 with its predecessor Mavic Air, you will see a major camera upgrade, new automated flight mode, longer flying times. This is neither big nor the smallest but fits perfectly in the middle of them.
Design
The Mavic Air 2 is slightly bigger than the Mavic Air. But you won’t feel that much on a day-to-day basis. It weighs 1.3 pounds or 570 grams and fits perfectly in your backpack. While searching for a DJI drone you can also look for our similar article Walkie talkie Black Friday. The profile is a bit low here and the ground clearance is not that great to take off from your garden if you didn’t cut your grass. Since the weight is more than the threshold value, you need to register it in case you are in the United States.
Folding and unfolding the Mavic Air 2 is pretty easy. The drone is sized 180×97×74 mm when it is folded. When you are ready to fly it has a dimension of 183×253×77 mm. You get the basic kit at $799 which didn’t include even a bag. For this, you need to get the Drone along with the ‘Fly More’ kit which costs $980. You will get a bag, two additional batteries, neutral density filters, and a multi-battery charging kit. If you are well versed in flying a drone and want to use it in your work I would recommend going with the combo. But in case you are just starting with a drone then the base version is more than enough for you.
Battery and Controller
You will get a 3500mAh LiPo 3S battery with the DJI Mavic Air 2. This is not the highest capacity battery you get in a DJI Drone but DJI optimized it very well so that you get 34 minutes of flying time compared to 31 minutes in the premium DJI Mavic 2 Pro.
It’s a huge improvement over the Mavic Air which had 21 minutes of fly time. If you are using a drone then the must-have thing that you should use with it is a Microphone. If the weather is not that windy, you can easily fly the Mavic Air 2 30 minutes with a full charge.
The Mavic Air 2 controller looks a bit different than the Mavic 2 series. DJI removed the small LCD screen and placed the holding clips on top instead of the bottom. They used plastic which is not cheap and looks attractive in the new gray color.

You can charge the controller using the USB-C cable. There are 4 LEDs which indicates the remaining battery which is pretty helpful. In case you are using an iPhone, you can use the lighting cable. Otherwise, you will get micro USB and USB-C to connect your android phone.
Let’s talk about the buttons and switches and their functionality. You get two sticks and 3 buttons in the controller. The left stick sets altitude and rotates the aircraft about its central axis. The right stick is used to move the drone in any direction you want. The power button at the right is to turn on and off the drone and controller. Long press the power button will activate the ‘Return to Home’ feature and the drone will get back from where it flew. If you want to switch between photo and video mode you can use the Fn button placed at the left. And the final switch is to toggle between different flight modes as per your need.
Alert– When you are flying the Mavic Air 2 on sport mode to get a speedy shot the obstacle avoidance feature will not be available. This does not work in the Sport mode.
One more thing, there are also two buttons on the top of the controller. The left one is used to tilt the camera up and down. And the right one is to capture a shot or start a recording. You can always do these from the app but these are very handy at some times.
Image and Video Quality
You should have heard it that Megapixel doesn’t make a camera great. The same goes with the DJI Mavic Air 2. You will see an ‘improved’ 48MP camera compared to 12MP in Mavic Air. But it has a 1/2 inch sensor which is not that big like the Mavic 2. You can shoot photos in both 12MP and 48MP.
Let me explain it in detail. This dual MP technology is designed through Quad Bayer technology. The pixels are placed in a small area and as a result, they didn’t get adequate space to capture enough details. You will see noticeable differences between 12MP and 48MP shots but you will see grains. This is not a sign of a great photo. You can shoot both JPEG and RAW (DNG) using the Mavic Air 2’s camera.
The camera uses a scene detection feature along with low-light optimization and HDR mode and applies necessary adjustments or filter to make your images cool. Bt there is a limitation, you can use it only in 12MP mode. You also get some additional shooting modes like Smartphoto. But you don’t get it either in 48MP mode. Anyway, the sensor is good enough, and combining it with a 24mm lens and f/2.8 aperture will give you some stunning shots.
Mavic Air 2 delivers smooth, detailed, and stable videos. You can record 4K Ultra HD video at 60 FPS. The footage is detailed and crisp. Furthermore, this supports video at the 120Mbps rate. The 60FPS is a huge improvement over the 30FPS limitation for 4K video in Mavic 2. This is more logical considering Mavic Air 2 cost almost as half as the Mavic Pro 2. You can also record 2K at 60 FPS and Full HD at 240 FPS for slow-motion video.
You can also use the HDR mode but for this, you need to shoot at 30 FPS. The HDR feature is not supported at 60 FPS. Since this comes with a fixed f/2.8 aperture you need to use an ND filter to control the light. And it is often observed that there is an unbalanced amount of light when you are flying your drone high. So you definitely want to use the HDR mode to get the details where light is not adequate. Thus stick to the 30FPS unless you badly need to record at 60 FPS.
There aren’t many color profiles in video mode compared to photo mode. You only get Normal and D-Cinelike in the Mavic Air 2. You have to put some god effort into post-production in case you are not happy with these two. Also, you get a field of view of 84° which is slightly more than the Mavic Pro 2 which is pretty good for a drone under $800.
Overall the Mavic Air 2 is a solid product from DJI when it comes to video capability. It competes with the Mavic 2 series which is priced double than this. The Image section is not that great but still, it’s very good when you shoot at 12MP. And considering you use a drone more for video, the DJI Mavic Air 2 is a great choice for under $1000 in this DJI Drone Black Friday 2022 sale.
DJI Mavic Mini Black Friday
The DJI Mavic Mini is the best and most affordable drone you can buy in this DJI Drone Black Friday sale. It comes just at $399 and offers great features. Now don’t compare this with Mavic Air 2 or Mavic 2 series. They are a whole lot expensive than the Mavic Mini. You will get 2.7K video recording along with 12MP still photos. The footages are very stable and the battery is sufficient to supply the power Mavic Mini needs. When DJI introduced it last year it created a huge hype. Not only it is the cheapest DJI drone but also this is a value for money product from DJI.

Features
- Super Affordable
- Compact – Same as an iphone
- Good battery Life
- Excellent Video Quality
- No Registration Needed
- Gimbal Stabilization
Design
Let me tell you some cool facts first. The Mavic Mini will fit in your jeans. It is the same in size as an iPhone. Isn’t it cool? You can also place it in your hand and it will fit perfectly in the palm. It is one of the most compact drones out there.
The Mavic mini weighs just 249 grams. This is just a gram below the threshold for registration. So if you are in the USA you don’t need an FAA registration to fly it. You get the gimbal-stabilized camera at the front. The micro USB charging port is at the back. You can also access the battery from there.
As DJI has to cut the cost and keep the drone under 250 gram you won’t get the sensors on the front, back, or on sides. So the obstacle avoidance feature is not there in Mavic mini. But to be honest you can’t expect this premium feature in a sub $400 drone. So we will not complain about this. But you get some sensors at the bottom for a smooth landing. You also get a battery meter along with a light. This helps you at night. When you unfold the drone it sizes 160×202×55 mm. You can easily place it in your bag instead of how small a place left there. And in case you don’t want to carry a bag, keep it in your pocket!
Battery and Controller
The DJI Mavic Mini comes with a 2400 mAh Li-ion 2S battery. According to DJI, this lasts up to 30 minutes. But you will get approx 27 minutes of flying time. which is great where the costly Mavic Air only runs around 18 minutes with a full charge.
Honestly, this is not the best battery you will found in a DJI drone. Mavic Air 2 is capable of running around 34 minutes. But looking at the price points, the Mavic Mini competes with the Mavic 2 Pro which costs the fourth time.

On the other hand, the controller has a 2600mAh battery which easily runs through your day. You get a basic controller with the Mavic Mini. The holding clips are at the bottom to attach your phone. You get two joysticks and two buttons on the controller. The left one is to set the altitude and rotate your drone. And you can move your drone forward or backward or sideward as per your need using the right stick.
The two buttons above the joystick are for the record and snap. You can easily start recording or can get a quick shot using these buttons. Although you can do these from the app but still this is a handy feature. You can easily attach a big phone to the controller. The holding clips are solid and you will not complain about them.
Connectivity
You get good connectivity with the Mavic Mini. DJI said you can control the drone at a distance of 4KM through the controller without any obstruction. This is really impressive.
But please keep in mind, since the Mavic Mini weighs just under 250 grams you need to consider the wind speed before flying it. If the wind speed is more than 12mph you may face problems flying the Mavic Mini. Here comes the ‘Find My Drone’ feature. This is very essential for Mavic Mini. If for some reason you have to do a sudden landing you can use the find my drone feature to locate it easily. But still, I will tell you to get an idea about the wind speed before flying it.
Camera – Photo and Video
The Mavic Mini features a 12MP camera. The sensor is the same as the Mavic Zoom’s 1/2.3” CMOS. You will get a field of view of 83° which is great. The aperture here f/2.8 is a fixed one. You can shoot up to 2K video at 30 FPS. And the angle of view is similar to that of a 24mm full-frame lens.
Two things you need to know here first – one good and one bad. Good thing first, you get an excellent stable video from the gimbal. You can easily tilt the camera while shooting footage and it will provide you highly stabilized footage. Now the bad thing, if you are in professional work there are lots of limitations in Mavic Mini. They didn’t bother you much if you are just starting aerial photography or videography. But for someone who wants to use the footage in commercial purpose will feel a let down here.
See a Mavic Mini footage here
Let’s talk about the video first. You can record videos only up to 2K resolution, 4K is not supported. Now the odd thing is you can record 2K videos at 25 and 30 frames per second. I am not asking for 60FPS but DJI can easily give us the cinematic 24FPS. You will say we have 25FPS but you will easily spot the difference between this and a 24FPS video. So the first drawback is your footage will not look fully cinematic. You can shoot 60FPS video at Full HD resolution.
Another let down is you can only shoot at the default profile which has natural colors but nothing impressive. You can’t even set B&W here. So you need to depend on post-production highly if you are a bit choosy about colors. But when you consider the price along with the video quality it’s an excellent option for you in this DJI Drone Black Friday sale.
You can capture still photos at 12MP. You can use the app or the dedicated button in the controller to take a snap. The images are crisp and clear and you will get good details. But like the video, you won’t get any custom color profiles. But since there are lots of photo editing apps available I will not consider it a big drawback. You only get JPEG format here, with no RAW support. The gimbal helps to get good night shots too.
Now for me, there is one major drawback in the still photo category. You won’t get HDR support. This is necessary because there is always an imbalance of lights that destruct the proper exposure. The HDR helps to overcome this. So if you are flying your drone in bright sunlight or on a cloudy day, you may saw some underexposed and overexposed photos. And since there is no RAW support you can’t change much in post-production.
Should You Buy it?
If you are here you may be thinking after saying so much bad about the photo and video quality why I am writing this. I will request you to read this thoroughly since you already made up to this down.
First, let me tell you if you are tight on your budget but also don’t want to invest in a cheap drone then the DJI Mavic Mini is the best option for you in this DJI Drone Black Friday sale. The video and photo quality is the best in this price range. I know they lack some essential features but you can expect them under $400 price tag. Also, you don’t need any FAA registration due to its lightweight. Furthermore, you can easily carry this in your pocket.
So in case you are just starting aerial photography or planning to get a drone for the first time go for it. You will learn a lot about flying a drone and then only invest in premium products like the Mavic Air 2 or the Mavic 2 series.
